A MOTOR CITY SPECIAL EVENT--STAHLS MOTOR AND MUSIC EXPERIENCE

On Tuesday, July 21, a group of 12 Men’s Club members and their guests motored out for a tour of an amazing place – Stahls automotive museum in Chesterfield.

Despite a bit of a mixup of the schedule, the group had a fine lunch at Longhorn steakhouse and then a tour of Stahls spacious museum.

There are more than 100 operating classic automobiles, and volunteer guides to answer questions.

Of special interest to some of us, there were also antique musical instruments. These could be played at our request.

If you like cars and enjoy music, ask anyone who attended for their impressions. Look at the smiles on their faces.

Hope to see many of you later this summer. We will again board the Diamond Queen for our annual cruise on the Detroit River.

View downtown Detroit from the roof, see stunning murals and mosaics, and end the tour at giant vaults in the basement of the "Cathedral of Finance.".

Built in 1928 and finished in 1929, the building was originally called the Union Trust Building and is considered one of the boldest examples of art-deco architecture. It is listed as the second-most viewed highlight of Detroit and given three stars in the Michelin Green Guide to Detroit. Join our annual Diamond Jack River Tour

Thursday, August 14th

Meet at Sinbad's at 11 am for lunch and take their shuttle to the Diamond Queen, or drive to Cullen Plaza at 1340 Atwater St, Detroit for a 12:30 boarding.

Cost for the cruise is $20 for each senior. Pay at the boat. Cash bar and snack available on the boat.

Park across the street; take the shuttle, which runs every 20 minutes from the Museum to the factory

Tickets may be purchased at the Museum of $23.50, on online for $21.50. Parking is $9.00.


There is a restaurant on the premises and we could meet there for lunch after the tour.

Please sign up in advance as the Museum would like to know how large a group we will have. There will be a yellow pad to signup at the next Membership Meeting or contact Ed Benz.

LOCAL SPECIAL EVENT IS AVAILABLE…

Ever wanted to visit the Motown Museum where the Detroit sound was put on the musical map?

In this guided tour of the Motown Museum, you can walk in the footsteps of your favorite Motown artists, where hit after hit was recorded in the original Studio A from 1959-1972. Explore the gallery of rare historic photos and glittering stage costumes, see Barry Gordy’s apartment, the control room and tape library. Imagine sitting at the actual piano where legendaryartists like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye composed some of their greatest Motown hits or sing into the very microphones that recorded some of the Temptations, Four Tops and Supremes most memorable tunes. Cost for this field trip is for the bus ride and tour ticket.
